YOU'VE BEEN FRAMED!

There is so much that goes into finding the perfect art piece for your space. Today, I want to lay out tips and tricks of the trade that will make your life SO much easier going forward.

Let’s start from the outside and work our way in. You guessed it - FRAMES! One of the most common mistakes of choosing a frame is choosing one that matches a specific space. Consider what you’re framing. You aren’t framing the room! You’re framing a breathtaking piece. Try to compliment the picture with your frame.

Notice how the frame draws you into the photo. It’s texture feels similar to that of the little huts and tower that reside within. It presents a cohesive flow and you can’t help but look at it (and the pastries, let’s be honest)!

The beautiful part about interior decorating is how flexible it can be for skill level. Maybe gallery walls are overwhelming to you. That’s okay! A little secret? GO BIG! For instance:

SO much better! See the difference?

I didn’t have to make a huge gallery wall. I just needed a larger than life art piece to make a focal statement. Oversized artwork is a simple way to make a huge impact. As a general rule of thumb, choose horizontal or squared art that measures at least half the length of the piece.

The last trick I will leave you with today is for those who don’t really want to put a hole in their wall. Alternatives to wall mounting is a favorite technique of mine because it’s so easy! Consider leaning art in unexpected places to achieve a modern, relaxed look.

It’s a bit unexpected, but the end result is so aesthetically pleasing. (Notice how the frame and easel work to present the piece within.)

You can even layer a few photos with this method. The part I love the most is how easy it is to rearrange or move your art all over the house with this technique!
